Welcome to the Denver Recorder Society, a chapter of the national American Recorder Society (ARS). We promote the playing of recorder by amateurs and professionals alike and encourage other instruments, especially early-music instruments to join us for our monthly playing sessions. The Denver RS consists of recorder players from Denver and around the front range who enjoy the fellowship of music making.
We support the missions of the American Recorder Society to:
-
Promote the recorder and its music by providing resources and opportunities to the diverse recorder community.
-
To help people of all ages and ability levels to play and study recorder
-
Present the instrument to new constituencies
-
Encourage increased career opportunities for professional performers and teachers
-
Enable and support recorder playing as a shared social experience
We gather for monthly playing meetings on the third Sunday of each month, September through April, to play music and socialize with our fellow musicians. Our music director is Jennifer Carpenter who provides dynamic programming and music-making opportunities for our chapter.
